Blogmas 2022 Day 3: November Wrap-Up

aiden pierce 12:00:00 PM

Hi hello and hohoho! Welcome to day 3 of Blogmas 2022 where I will be sharing my November wrap-up. I didn't read as much as I had hoped I would this month, unfortunately, but I am happy with what I did manage to read. The last two months of the year are always rough for me but November was especially hard because this is the year that I turned 30. And, well, I didn't take that easily in the slightest, so I struggled with handling the month. I also was coming off of the excitement of all of the spooky smutty novellas I read in October and, clearly, I wasn't ready to give that up! But let’s see what I did manage to read this month, shall we? Let’s get snowy!

___________________________________________________________________________

Title: Burn for Jack

Author: Aiden Pierce

Pages: 93

Genre: Halloween Romance Novella

Release Date: 26 October 2022

From Amazon: "Jack Calloway is the pumpkin-headed boogeyman of Hallow Hill. As the legend goes, he was a man of wicked tastes, devilish allure, and had a knack for dark magic. He and his lover—my ancestor—were tried as witches and burned at the stake at the edge of Hallow Hill’s pumpkin patch. Some say he made a deal with the devil to spare his lover’s soul and haunts the pumpkin patch to this day, waiting for her return. “Don’t go near the pumpkin patch on Halloween,” they’ve always warned the women in my family. “Jack might get you.” Too bad I don’t listen because I have to find out the hard way that ghost stories exist for a reason. And in Jack’s flames, I just might become one."

Mini-Review: This was a great way to end off October! It was well-written, fun, and spicy, and I really liked the characters. I was looking for a monster romance novella to read before the end of the spooky month and Burn for Jack checked all of the boxes I was hoping it would. I’ll definitely be checking out Aiden Pierce’s other books because I really enjoyed the writing!

Title: Good Girl

Author: M. Violet

Pages: 100

Genre: Halloween Romance Novella

Release Date: 05 October 2022

From Goodreads: "They call me their little fox...

They threaten to do things to me that I’m afraid to say out loud.

Poe, Grim, and Saint. I belong to them now… and there is no escape.

Bailey Bishop doesn’t believe in ghosts or superstitions. So when her friend dares her to break into an old, abandoned house the night before Halloween, she doesn’t hesitate. Even if the rush of adrenaline is just a temporary fix to quiet her carnal cravings. But Bailey may be getting in over her head. Be careful what you wish for. When three wicked spirits follow her home, they refuse to leave until she gives them what they want… Every vile piece of her."

Mini-Review: It’s November but I refuse to stop reading spicy Halloween novellas. Good Girl was extra spicy and probably one of my favorites that I’ve read recently, dare I say! I'm a sucker for ghosts so spicy ghosts are A+. I’m absolutely picking up more from M Violet because this was so enjoyable and I can’t wait to read more!

Title: Glitch

Author: Briana Michaels

Pages: 252

Genre: Romance Novella

Release Date: 20 July 2022

From Goodreads: "Glitch: I’m obsessed with a woman I’ve never met. Hell, I’ve never even seen a picture of her, unless you count the cartoon avatar she displays during our online gaming nights. To Ara, I’m a quiet gamer who keeps a chat open in case she wants to vent about her day or her loser boyfriend. She has no clue who I am, what I look like, or that she’s the star in the filthy audio recordings I create for my personal pleasure. When we finally meet face-to-face, I already know Ara’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman and there’s nothing I won’t do to have her. To keep her. To satisfy her. I just hope she can handle my intensity because I’m not going to hold back. And no one else better stand in my way.

Ara: Glitch rules my thoughts and plays a recurring role in my dirtiest fantasies. When we finally meet, he’s nothing like I expected. He’s better. My mind short-circuits the instant he touches me. And when he says my name in his incredibly deep voice? Panty. Meltdown. After my last relationship, I’ve been shy about starting something new. But Glitch makes me want to take this leap and there’s no denying how badly I want him. There’s just one itsy bitsy problem: my carnal appetite is insatiable. Will Glitch be able to keep up or will he shut me down once he learns what I like and how often I like it?"

Mini-Review: I came across this randomly while scrolling around in KU and the cover immediately caught my eye. The description had me download and start reading as soon as I could. And the entire book has me smiling so much because it was so frickin good! I love love love Glitch and Ara and their romance. This was sweet, spicy as absolute heck, and definitely one of my favorite books I’ve read this month! I will absolutely be picking up more from Briana Michaels and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

___________________________________________________________________________

And that does it for my November wrap-up and my second post of Blogmas 2022! Like I said above, this wasn’t my most successful reading month, but I really did enjoy the books that I read. I hope to have an even better reading month in December to wrap-up the year with a bang! I’m almost at 100 books read for 2022 and I’d love to hit that mark before the year ends. Thanks for stopping by and spending your holiday with me. I’ll be back on the 5th with a very exciting post about one of my favorite authors, Charlie Nottingham, and a recap of her Raven’s Cry series along with a review of the newest book, Raven’s Reckoning!

blog tour 8:00:00 AM

Be sure to stick around to the end of my review for the giveaway, and for a tour schedule with all of the other stops for this blog tour. Let's get started!

___________________________________________________________________________

Title: Fate Awakened

Author: Jocelyn Montana

Pages: 330

Genre: Fantasy Romance

Release Date: 24 July 2022

From Goodreads: "A MONSTER TO EVERYONE BUT HER
Hans lives only for vengeance. No more Pack. No friends. Only the dark void inside him tormenting him about his past. Yet when he meets a dark-haired beauty, desire tears through him and changes everything. But werewolves never take mates, and to claim her would doom him and ensure the rising evil wins.

AN ORDINARY HUMAN TO EVERYONE BUT HIM

One moment Briony’s eating in the tavern, and the next a necromancer has her tied up in a cave as bait for a werewolf. Stuck in the middle of a centuries-old battle, she needs to escape. Now. Except when the werewolf arrives and she gets her chance, she doesn’t run. No—she helps him and decides to join him to face a formidable enemy who will do anything to kill her. And with each day that passes, every gentle touch, every silky purr, the werewolf claws his way further into her heart.

BOUND TOGETHER AGAINST AN ANCIENT EVIL

They have one month to work together to take down a sorceress. One month to decide to remain together forever. Everyone in Briony’s life has left her, and she doesn’t believe in love anymore. Secrets in Hans’s past prevent him from making Briony his. They may save the world, but will they save each other?"

Thank you to Jocelyn Montana and Rockstar Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for review! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As long as I can remember, I've never been a fan of werewolf books. Vampires have always been my monster of choice. But monster romance? Now that's something entirely different! I've been trying to branch out more with my reading this spooky season and when I saw the cover for Fate Awakened I was immediately intrigued. I'm so happy that I took a chance on this monster romance book, oh my gosh!

Fate Awakened follows Briony (a human) and Hans (a vulk; think werewolf but he doesn't need the moon to change and instead is just always in his monster form), two individuals from very different worlds. Their paths collide when Briony is taken by a group claiming to be the King's Guard one night, but it turns out they're actually planning to make her werewolf bait. Instead of running like you'd imagine, Briony decides to stay and help Hans fight. With only one month to take down a sorceress, will Briony and Hans learn to let go of the past, save the world, and save each other before it's too late?

This actually turned out to be so much more than I thought it would be, and I mean that in the best way possible! I was thinking this would just be a monster romance book but it has a really cool magic system, a magical war, and so much more than what you would expect from a PNR book. This is definitely more on the fantasy side and even had a beautiful map and a whole glossary to help you understand some of the terms that the author uses throughout the book. This is also a book that takes place out in nature and in some beautiful environments which is a refreshing change from what you might imagine the setting to be. It went above and beyond to really bring you into the world and it really kept me hooked while I was reading!

The romance between Briony and Hans was really cute and definitely spicy. I love spicy monster romances so I knew I would enjoy it, but I didn't realize that I would end up liking so much more than just those two! This book definitely set up the world and characters for future installments so I'm really excited to see where the next book goes from here. I'm so fascinated by just how big this world seems and how many cool creatures reside within it. There is so much more exploration that can happen and I'm eager to find out what else this world has to offer.

With a wonderfully spicy romance, loveable characters that you'll get instantly hooked on, and a lush and beautiful fantasy world, Fate Awakened is a fantastic start to a series that is sure to keep you reading until the early hours of the morning!
