Rating System
Hi hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at my rating system for my book blog, Under the Book Cover. Because I'm a corgi mom, I like to use corgi faces in place of stars when I'm rating books here on my blog. Below, you will find my explanation for each level of corgis, which corresponds to how I felt about a book.
One corgi- Meh. This book was not for me and I would not recommend it to others. There may be problematic elements, or things that I just flat out did not enjoy in this book.
Two corgis- Okay. This book had some redeeming qualities, and wasn't awful, but I probably would not read it again or recommend it to others.
Three corgis- Good. This book wasn't bad, wasn't amazing, but was just a decent book. I enjoyed elements of it and would probably recommend it to others.
(This is a middle-of-the-road rating and I do not believe that a three is in any way negative!)

Four corgis- Great. This book was a great read and there may or may not be things that I just was not a huge fan of, but they are not enough to make me want to rate it lower. Would recommend.
Five corgis- Amazing. This book hit every beat that I was hoping it would, and is probably one of my new favorites. Or it just made me happy and I wanted to give it a five! This is a book I would absolutely recommend to any and everyone.
(I understand many people reserve a five star rating only for those books that really resonate with them. And I totally agree with that! But sometimes, a book just makes me happy and I love it and a five feels right.)

I like to touch on various elements of the book that I'm reviewing but don't use them to necessarily determine my overall rating. Things like the cover, characters, enjoyment level, pacing, plot, and writing are elements that I sometimes enjoy diving into in my reviews! Please know that everyone has different rating systems that they use to determine their enjoyment of each book they read. Every rating is unique to every reader!
