#LoveAThon Questionnaire!

9:07:00 AM

Hi hello and welcome to the first post of the Love-A-Thon 2017! This is my very first time participating in this event and I am so excited to see what the next two days will bring. Be sure to check out the hosts of this event, Alexa, Cee, Kristin, and Mel as well as the other participants listed on their blogs. Let's kick this off with a little get to know me post, shall we?

What’s your name? Where in the world are you blogging from?
Hi, I'm Megan! I'm 24, obsessed with corgis, and have a snazzy boyfriend who is in that photo up there with me. He does smile, I promise. I currently live in a small town outside of Atlanta, Georgia where the most exciting thing we have is a Walmart that's in two different counties. We're also getting a Panera Bread here soon, so that's cool.

Tell us your history with reading. Were you always a reader? Were you a reluctant reader? Was there a book that convinced you to become a reader?
I was a reader from a very young age. I'm told I was able to read at six months old, and was memorizing my little children's books and reciting them to my mom easily. I don't recall if there was ever a certain book that made me decide I was a reader, I just had a huge reading influence from my mom when I was little and it just kinda stuck with me.

How did you get involved in the online book community?
One day I decided to share my thoughts on a book I read and made this little blog not thinking it would really go anywhere. Three years later and here I am, still pretty much holed up in a box but slightly more branched out into the community.

How did you choose your primary platform (blog, Instagram, YouTube, etc)? How did you come up with your blog name?
I'm really bad at being on camera, so that was immediately out. Instagram is one I'm still working on, but it's not going so well as I've done literally nothing to make it happen. But I'm a writer, so making a blog just made the most sense to me. Here, I can type out my (sometimes) cohesive thoughts and feelings on a book and share them with people who may or may not feel the same. It works for me. My blog name? Well, I thought I was super clever because under the book cover is the story, right? I mostly post reviews so I'm going under the book cover to review the story. I know, so smart, right? So I was all about this name until I discovered someone else with the name Under the Cover Book Blog and I was like, "Well shoot." But it's kinda stuck with me at this point and no one has ever pointed it out except for me so here I am.

What’s your favorite thing about the online book community?
How polite the people are. I'm incredibly shy so reaching out isn't something I tend to do often. However, when I do post a comment on something (generally a BookTube video) I get nothing but kind and happy responses. It's nice to be part of a community of acceptance and kindness!

What sort of posts can readers expect from you?
Mostly book reviews. Honestly, I tried the daily blog meme thing and I always forget. Occasionally I'll try and do tag posts, but I never feel like those are as fun on a blog as compared to a BookTube channel. I also do wrap-up posts, but never TBR's because what I read month to month is a mystery to me until I'm like, "That's what I'll read." Even then I end up picking up at least three books at once. I also do blog tours sometimes, as well as author interviews. Those are probably my favorite because I get to talk to my favorite authors and really, who doesn't love doing that? So pretty much book reviews, wrap-ups, sometimes a tag post, blog tour stuff, and author interviews. Pretty exciting stuff.

What book genres do you talk about most?
As much as my boyfriend will poke fun at me for this, I tend to lean more towards dystopian books/series. So typical, but I can't get enough of them. I also like horror/thriller/mystery, historical fiction, science-fiction, and fantasy (with some serious conditions). Also, my blog leans mostly towards the YA genres, but I also love me a good Adult Fiction book. I tend to add in the 'Fiction' part because if I just said Adult book, I'd probably get some odd looks.

Favourite food? Beverage?
Mashed potatoes/macaroni and cheese. Can never go wrong with those. I'm a pretty big lover of juice as far as drinks go. Also, anything grape. Fanta, Sprite, Kool-Aid, I am here for it all.

Favourite color?
Purple! But I generally wear all black clothes so I guess black as well.

Favourite things to do apart from reading?
Outside of reading, I'm a huge gamer and also a cosplayer. I write for a cosplay magazine called iCosplay Magazine as well as make costumes for conventions. Some games I generally play are League of Legends, Overwatch, Bioshock, Borderlands, and Resident Evil. Also, I like to watch Let's Play videos on YouTube and pretend I'm playing the game.

Favourite TV shows?
Do Food Network shows count?

Favourite movies?
Nightmare Before Christmas, anything Disney (especially the princesses), all of the Resident Evil films, both Silent Hill films (if you've seen either the RE series or both SH films, please feel free to talk with me about them because I could talk all day about them!), anything horror related. I don't branch out much when it comes to films.

Favourite musical artists?
K-pop. Just anything k-pop.

Favourite places to shop?
Walmart and the thrift store. Basically super inexpensive places.

Favourite childhood books?
Single book: Bud Not Buddy.
Series of Books: Goosebumps, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,
A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Favourite books read in the last five years?
Heartless, The Night Circus, The Final Empire, Dark Matter. Just some off the top of my head.

Underrated book, series or author you love?
I don't think she's necessarily underrated, but I don't hear a lot of people talk about her or her books often. Rachel Caine and basically any book she's written. She's my favorite author hands down and I would love to see her work talked about more!

A book you want to see made into a film or TV show?
The Night Circus, but only if they do it properly.

Book boyfriend/girlfriend? Book BFF? Book family?
I don't really get book character crushes, so no boyfriend/girlfriend. BFF, probably Cath from Heartless. Family, the Weasley family, obviously.

Books you want to read in 2017?
All of the books. Seriously, I have so many! Mainly the Six of Crows duology, anything Sarah J. Maas, and the Lunar Chronicles series.

Wow, that was a lot of work but it was so much fun actually getting to talk about myself a little! I hope this gave you a bit of insight into who I am outside of just a little book blogger. Stay tuned for more #LoveAThon posts today and I'll see you soon!

  2. Hello! Welcome to the Love-a-Thon! I'm so glad you could join us. I think it's incredible that you're a cosplayer; I've always wanted to try to cosplay, but get intimidated by the idea!
