Blogmas 2018 Day 6: 2018 Wrap-Up and 2019 Goals!
9:01:00 PM
Hi hello and welcome to Blogmas 2018! I'm so excited to be doing Blogmas this year and I'm happy to share that I will be following the incredible Jenniely's prompts all month long. I highly encourage you to go check out her amazing blog and join in on the Blogmas fun! Today is day six and I'll be wrapping up my 2018 reading year and talking about some of my goals for 2019. Let's get festive!

I've mentioned this before in several posts but for those that may not have read those, 2018 was a pretty rough year for me. I was diagnosed with cancer in November 2017 and had to go through treatment from then to roughly the end of July. So, it's not surprising that my reading has fallen a bit behind throughout this year. I set my Goodreads goal at 12 books, one for each month, but have actually surpassed my goal! I wasn't pushing myself super hard to reach or even beat my goal but I'm super proud of myself for getting to where I am right now. Some of these books I have reviews for so I will be linking to those if anyone is interested in checking those out, but some I don't have reviews for yet. But, let's see all of the books I've read in 2018 (so far because I'm currently in the middle of like four books so let's hope I can finish them before the end of the year)!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh
Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings
The Chronicle of the Three: Eden Sword by Tabitha Caplinger
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young
The Merciless IV: Last Rites by Danielle Vega
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl
Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf
Blood Oath by Raye Wagner and Kelly St. Clare
Shadow Wings by Raye Wagner and Kelly St. Clare
Like Never and Always by Ann Aguirre
The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
The Witch Doesn't Burn in This One by Amanda Lovelace
To Make Monsters Out of Girls by Amanda Lovelace
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
(My new favorite book of all-time)
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
I'm almost positive that I've forgotten some books but I'm really proud of the ones I did manage to read! I mentioned this above but I'm also in the middle of several other books currently so hopefully, I manage to finish those and add them to this list before the end of December gets here. Now, let's get into what some of my goals for 2019 are!
1. Keep up with my blog better
I would really like 2019 to be the year that I update my blog more frequently. Blogging and reviewing books is something I'm incredibly passionate about and I would love to really show just how much I love it and keep up with posting more. My goal for posting on my blog is going to be set at 2-4 reviews a month with some fun things like blog tours, guest posts, and maybe something like State of the ARC to keep up with my ARCs that I need to have read and reviewed. I would also love to take part in more readathons in 2019 and document them more through blog posts!
2. Read at least 24 books
I'm trying to slowly build my way back up to reading more often and I feel like setting more realistic reading goals is a way I can help accomplish that goal. My goal for 2018 was to read 12 books and I have surpassed that, so I figure that doubling that goal for 2019 isn't too much of a stretch!
3. Stay ahead of ARC releases/only request ARCs I will actually read
I know I'm not the only one who gets behind with reading and reviewing ARCs, right? Well, I'd like to put an end to that next year. I'm also super guilty of requesting multiple ARCs based off of their synopsis and cover and then never having the time to read them. I realize that ARCs are a privilege and I want to cherish the ones that I am able to receive instead of just requesting them left and right. I want to read and review books that I'm genuinely interested in and share them on my blog with my readers, not try to play "How many ARCs can I have sitting on my Kindle until I go crazy?" Next year, I'll be seriously limiting my ARC requests and will be making sure to keep up with the ones that I do have the honor of receiving for review!
4. Finish at least the first draft of my book!
That's right, I'm writing a book. I know, no one is shocked by the book blogger writing a book, but it's a big deal for me. I've always wanted to be a published author for as long as I can remember and I'm actually making progress on this book which makes me feel like I might be able to do this thing! All I'm saying is that it's a space book because honestly, I'm not even sure that I know what this is about yet and I'm at almost 11.5K words. But this is a huge goal of mine and I hope I can stick to it!

And there are some of my goals for 2019! There are probably more that I'll think of somewhere down the road but those four are my main goals that I want to stick to/achieve next year. Here's to hoping that I won't fall behind or fail any of these! What are some of your goals for 2019? Let me know in the comments because I would love to know! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow for another day of Blogmas!
