7:08:00 AM

Hi hello and welcome to day two of the Winter Biannual Bibliothon 2018! For those that don't know, the Biannual Bibliothon is held twice a year and is hosted by some pretty amazing people from the BookTube community: Kelly, Brittni, Emma, Catriona, Momo, Red, and Dylan! Be sure to go and check out all of their channels as well as the Biannual Bibliothon channel for more information and the video/reading challenges. Today, the blogger challenge is being hosted by Will Read For Booze and it is to create a bookish beverage! Be sure to visit the blog for more about today's challenge if you're interested in participating. Let's get started!

If you're reading this, then you've successfully completed your training and are now a Master Necromancer. Master Cymbre and Master Nicanor send their regards and will be present at the induction ceremony later this evening to present you with your official necromancer pin. In the meantime, they would like to share a special indulgence with you that is reserved especially for those newly appointed with the Master title. Please enjoy this special drink and we will see you this evening at your pinning ceremony. Enjoy!

Before you is the Blue Eyed Corpse. Yes, that is really the name. The Masters do have a sense of humor every now and then, you know. This drink is known to give a bit of brain freeze if you drink it too quickly, so take caution unless you enjoy that sort of thing. The Blue Eyed Corpse is simply a blueberry smoothie with a drizzle of honey on top for good measure. Since we necromancers always carry a vial of honey with us into the Deadlands, it tends to be a popular ingredient in many dishes as I'm sure you've noticed by now. If not, well, surprise. Oh, and don't mind the bony finger drinking straw. Like I said, the Masters have a sense of humor- a very unique sense of humor.

Combine your milk, yogurt, blueberries, and honey in a blender. Blend until smooth. Ta-da! Pour the smoothie into your favorite mug and add a drizzle of honey on top for a bit of extra sweetness. Don't forget the bendy straw! Or a bony finger. Whatever floats your boat.

For those that haven't put it together, this drink is based on Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh. I was inspired by the necromancer main character, Odessa, to create a cold drink that included a few references to the book. Honey is an ingredient in the smoothie and is also something that the necromancers carry with them when traveling to the Deadlands to retrieve a spirit. The name, Blue Eyed Corpse, references the signature blue eyes of a necromancer and, well, a dead body because necromancers bring the dead back to life. The drink itself is also made with blueberries which is another nod to the blue eyes of necromancers!

I hope this has inspired you to make a smoothie for yourself (they're a great treat and very easy to make!) or perhaps pick up Reign of the Fallen! The book releases on 23 January 2018 so it's almost in stores and trust me, this is one you don't want to miss. I hope you enjoyed reading about my bookish beverage creation! Let me know in the comments what your bookish beverage idea would be. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you in the next chapter!
