Blogmas 2018 Day 7: Favorite Books of 2018!

7:04:00 AM

Hi hello and welcome to Blogmas 2018! I'm so excited to be doing Blogmas this year and I'm happy to share that I will be following the incredible Jenniely's prompts all month long. I highly encourage you to go check out her amazing blog and join in on the Blogmas fun! Today is day seven and I'll be talking about my favorite books of 2018.  Let's get festive!

2018 is the year that I finally found my official favorite book of all time. I've loved books before and said that many are some of my favorites, but I've never had a number one best book 10/10 recommend forever book. Until now. There was just something about Vicious that clicked with me and I felt it in my heart that this was the book that was supposed to be my favorite. It took me far too long to read it but now that I have, I'm so happy and so in love. Easily my favorite book of 2018 and, quite obviously, my favorite book ever.

I know, another Victoria/V.E. Schwab book, but she's just on a roll with me this year! Granted, I've only read two of her books and about half of another in 2018 but she has taken her spot on my favorite authors list so I'm trying to read more of her books. It just so happened that I was able to snag an ARC of City of Ghosts and absolutely flew through it. It was such a creepy book but still an incredibly fun read and I am so excited for the sequel!

I read this back in January and it quickly became one of the best books I had ever read and the year had barely started. There were just so many things about Reign of the Fallen that made it an absolutely incredible read and it's one that I highly recommend everyone reads. It's not only an amazing fantasy book, but it's also an LGBT fantasy book with necromancers and one of the best representations of depression/mental health I've ever read. It's so authentic and raw and real and I was not expecting it but was so pleased with how it was written. I'm so excited for the sequel, Song of the Dead, and can't wait to share my thoughts on it!

It took me several tries to get into this one but when I finally did, I did not want to put it down! This was my first experience with a Marisha Pessl book (no, I have not read Night Film yet) and I was so pleased! It was such an intense book and really made me feel a bunch of feelings that I was not expecting. The ending had me bawling my eyes out and I can't remember the last time that I actually cried because of a book, so that was a huge positive in my book, strange as it may sound.

As a testament to how poorly I've been keeping up with the books I've read this year, LIFEL1K3 is somehow missing from my Goodreads list. I can't even begin to describe how much this book means to me, how much it helped me. Jay was kind enough to send me an ARC of this book while I was going through chemo and it was an incredible kindness that I will never be able to understand how I was lucky enough to receive. There's absolutely no chance he's reading this, but if he is somehow, thank you for changing my life, Jay. I'll never be able to accurately express what you did for me, and what your books continue to do for me. Also I am so stoked you liked my Darkdawn Mia!

Another book that took me far too long to get into but I'm so happy I finally read it! The hype around this one was real and deserved and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Kaz is incredible and Nina is perfection. Seeing a bigger girl who was not ashamed to eat and get crumbs all over her chest just brought me so much joy in my heart and I adore her with all of my soul. I haven't read Crooked Kingdom yet (I'm actually kind of nervous because I think someone might die and I'm not okay with that) but I know that when I finally do, it will be just as amazing as Six of Crows!

This book was on my most anticipated historical fiction/retellings of 2018 list that I posted back in January and that was before this beautiful cover was revealed which made me even more excited for this release. I mean, do you see how beautiful it is?! This book was everything I was looking forward to and I would love to find out that there is a sequel because that ending was amazing!

This was a book that I was super nervous to read simply because it's the final one in the trilogy and I was just not ready for what was going to happen. The second book, Armor Bearer, had wrecked me and I wasn't sure if I was prepared for Eden Sword after what had previously happened in the series. But this was such a wonderful finale and I loved it so much. Tabitha Caplinger is such a talented author and I am so excited to see what she writes next!

Every time I think about this book I want to scream in the best way possible. I binge read the first three books in this series all at once and when I found out there was going to be a fourth and final book in the series, I could not wait! I read this book in a few hours and actually stayed up reading this book under my blanket with a flashlight because I could not go to sleep without finding out how it ended. This was just so fantastic and I love this series so much and this was a great ending with a twist I did not see coming!

I am actually currently in the middle of several books right now that I have a feeling will be some of my favorites of the year if I finish them before the end of the month. So, just in case, I'll list them here:

Vengeful by V.E. Schwab
Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan
A secret beta read I'm doing that I won't talk about but will say it's already 5 stars

I'd love to know what some of your favorite books of the year are so be sure and let me know down in the comments! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow for another day of Blogmas!
