Hi hello and welcome to #Project14Lists day three! Today, I'll be talking about some of my favorite book bloggers that I followed and/or discovered in 2018. I feel like our little book blogger community is just that, little, and I think we should definitely take the time to recognize and support our fellow bloggers! That's why I want to share the love and talk about some of these amazing book bloggers that I absolutely adore and think you should follow. Just as a side note, these are not in any particular order. Let's get started!

1. Jenniely

I'm pretty sure I've been following Jenn for a while but haven't actually perused and followed her blog until 2018, if that makes sense? But oh my goodness I am so glad that I have actually sat down and read more of her blog! It's no surprise that she's an award-winning blogger, seriously. I followed some of her prompts for both Blogtober and Blogmas (both of which I have really failed at but oh well, I did try!) and just looking at some of her older posts have me absolutely amazed. You can really tell that she puts so much time and effort into each and every post that she makes. From her writing to her graphics, Jenn is an incredible blogger that you should definitely be following!

2. Howling Libraries

Destiny is yet another blogger that I have been following, but not closely enough! I actually discovered she lives fairly close to me and I'm secretly hoping I get to meet her one day because she's just so awesome. We have very similar reading tastes and tend to share the same opinions on books which makes her my go-to for new reading recommendations! Also, her Bookstagram photos are the bees knees. Her posts are always so well written and her blog, in general, is just such a warm and cozy environment to visit and I'm always so visually pleased when I read one of her posts.

3. That Bookshelf Bitch

No, this is not because Shealea is hosting #Project14Lists, I actually just genuinely love her blog! She's so funny and straightforward with all of her reviews and I always love reading updates from her. Her Top Ten Tuesday posts are great for new recommendations and she also does an awesome Quick Kindle Steals series that's super informative if you're looking for books for your Kindle that are $2.99 or less. She's been on a hiatus for a bit but now she's back and hosting this wonderful #Project14Lists and I'm so excited to see her posting again!

4. Happy Indulgence

Happy Indulgence is made up of Jeann, Jenna, and Aila and I love how cute their blog looks, oh my goodness. I just get such a bubbly feel from it and I always have a smile on my face while reading one of their posts. I think the idea of having multiple bloggers on one blog has a great opportunity for multiple points of view on things and I love reading the variety of things that each blogger talks about. I also ADORE Jeann and her videos on YouTube. Seriously, she's a ball of sunshine and happiness and I get so excited to watch one of her new videos!

5. Alexa Loves Books

If you're not following Alexa, why not?! Not only is her blog so aesthetically pleasing (seriously, it makes my heart so very happy) but her content is also A+. I  love that she does Abbreviations, where she basically takes three books and gives mini-reviews on them but also does full book reviews and a really cool series called Table for Two with Rachel of Hello, Chelly where they highlight restaurants and dessert spots in New York! She just has such a variety of posts that you're sure to find something that you enjoy reading, even if you're not a bookish person!

Today is day fourteen and I'll be talking about five of my favorite Booktubers that I've watched this year! Just as a side note, these are not in any particular order. Let's get festive!

Booksandlala

Lala has been one of my favorite Booktubers for quite a long time now but this year I just could not get enough of her videos! She is hilarious and I love every single one of the videos that she puts out. Vlogs, readathons, book hauls, bullet journal videos, her Bookmarked series, everything I watch from her is just amazing. If you haven't checked her out, I highly recommend subscribing because her content is A+!

chelseadolling reads

I've watched videos from Chelsea on and off but 2018 was the year that I fully committed to watching as many of her videos as possible. She's such a ray of sunshine and she is so funny and I just genuinely want to be friends with her because I feel like she'd be such a great friend to have! I love how honest she is about all of the books she reads and isn't one to shy away from letting people know she didn't enjoy a book she read. On the same note, when she likes a book, she gets so happy and wants to share her love of it and it always makes me want to read whatever she's talking about. Chelsea is an all-around wonderful human and 10/10 would recommend subscribing!

ProblemsofaBookNerd

I'm a very new watcher/subscriber to Cece but oh my goodness I'm so glad I found her channel! She has such a great personality and talks about such diverse and different books and I feel like I'll always come away from one of her videos with a new book to read. I can definitely say she's a go-to if you're looking for some awesome LGBTQIA+ book recommendations or just a great book review or book box unboxing! Whatever the case, Cece is sure to brighten up your subscription box!

If you watch Booktube, then you know who this lovely lady is. Emma is certainly one of the top Booktubers out there but it's definitely for a reason! She puts out a ton of content that always has something for everyone and her channel has grown and changed so much in the years that I've been watching her. Emma is also a huge part of how/why I got into the Biannual Bibliothon and I was actually accepted as a blog host for the Winter 2019 round!

Katytastic

Kat is another pretty popular Booktuber but again, it's for a reason. She's 1/3 of the Booksplosion Book Club, has some great reading videos for readathons and book recommendations, and also puts out some really helpful writing vlogs/videos! She recently did weekly writing vlogs that followed her journey as she drafted what she refers to as Book (yes, really, it's fantastic) and those are actually some really helpful videos to watch if you're an aspiring writer! Plus, she loves kpop. I'd definitely recommend going to subscribe to her channel for some really funny but also informative content!

Hi hello and welcome to the NaNoWriMo tag! This tag was created by Kristina Horner so be sure and go check out her awesome video for her answers and subscribe to her channel for some really great content! If you don't know what NaNoWriMo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month, where you basically aim to write 50,000 words towards a novel during the month of November. I've tried to participate for several years in a row but never actually follow through, unfortunately. But 2018 seems to be the year I'll actually make some progress! So, to celebrate, I decided to do this tag! Let's get started!

1. How many times have you done NaNoWriMo?
Successfully? Zero. I've actually never won a NaNoWriMo because I tend to just stop and/or give up at some point during the month. Whether it's because I just forget to write or lose interest in my WIP, I've never followed through with any of my projects. I've had my NaNo account for 7 years but have only participated and documented my progress twice, I believe. Once in 2016, and this year!

2. How did you first find out about NaNoWriMo?
Wow, I honestly can't remember! I've had my account for seven years and when I try to think back on how I discovered this, I can't remember a thing. I may have found it through watching some video on YouTube probably? But don't hold me to that!

3. What was the name of the first novel you attempted with NaNo?
Don't laugh. I named it Kingdom of Emmawrath and it was the one I attempted in 2016. I was super proud of it and was determined that it was going to be the book that made me a NYT Bestselling Author. It's currently still in progress somewhere, oops.

4. Give us a 1 sentence summary of what you’re writing this year.

I don't have my elevator pitch yet (somehow) but I'll get one eventually. For now, I'll say...two girls (a human and an alien) teaming up to fight against wrongful experimentation and finding friendship (and probably love) in the process. It sounds so terrible when I put it like that, oh no.

5. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever been given?

Basically, anything that V.E. Schwab says. I'm serious, she is my absolute idol when it comes to writing. Some of my favorites from her are:

I'm not writing a book, I'm writing a chapter. 

I'm not writing a chapter, I'm writing a page.

I'm not writing a page, I'm writing a line.

“This is just a change of setting, a new storyline, a fresh chapter. We have a whole book to write," she says, squeezing me around the shoulders, "and how do we write it?"

"One page at a time.” (Quote from her book City of Ghosts)

She has so many more and she's so open about her writing process and is always giving out fantastic advice to people who ask. I just can't say enough nice things about her!

6. Did you ever take a year off from NaNo? Why?
Well, yeah, but honestly? It was because I forgot. And I also spent the first week of November 2017 in the hospital and got diagnosed with cancer that same week and started treatment and all of that so I didn't really have the ability to do pretty much anything.

7. What's your biggest inspiration when figuring out what to write?

Sometimes I just get random ideas and I try to write down keywords that I'll remember and then try to string something together from the nonsense that I come up with. I had my fiance help me with my 2016 project actually and he helped me work on a ton of worldbuilding stuff! But inspiration for me comes from all kinds of stuff. Honestly, and I know here I go again, V.E. Schwab is a huge fountain of inspiration and I just really aspire to be even like, 1/4th as good of a writer as she is one day.

8. Read us the first sentence from one of your novels.

"They say that in space, no one can hear you scream. But that didn’t stop him from trying."

That's from my current work in progress I'm calling Space Book because I cannot come up with a title at all. Did I mention I've been planning out this book for several months now? Because I have. And I still don't have a title. Go me.

9. Why do you love writing?

I've loved writing since I was very young, I'd say probably elementary school? It's always been something that I've consistently loved and wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I've dreamt about being an author for years and years and while I don't think it'll ever actually happen for me, I'll still continue to write because I love it. It's something that allows me to just create stories that I think are fun and share them with people. It makes me happy, to put it simply.

1. I will never dog-ear my book pages. It's book abuse and I refuse to do it!

2. I've only recently (within the past year) started liking e-books. My Kindle is filled with tons of e-books that I will probably never get to, oops.

3. I've finally learned how to read multiple books at once! It's a huge accomplishment for me and I've been able to get through so many more books because of it.

4. I can't read in the car because it makes me super sick but that doesn't stop me from trying.

5. I've had my book blog since January 2014 and just recently reached 200 posts!

6. I loaned out my signed, personalized copies of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse to two friends six years ago and I still haven't gotten them back. I will never loan out books again.

7. If I start a series in hardback/paperback, then I have to have all the rest of the books in the series in that form. I've made an exception for Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series, but only because she's my favorite author.

8. I've already read over 60 books in 2017 and surpassed my Goodreads goal of 60 books! It's a large mix of e-book and physical books and I'm so proud of myself for not only achieving my goal, but continuing to surpass it daily.

9. I don't like audio books. I may be one of the few but I just don't feel like I can follow along with it very well. Maybe I'll try one day, but for now, I'll stick to reading with my eyeballs. Snaps for anyone who can listen to audio books and follow the story, though!

10. I never make a concrete TBR for myself. When picking a new book, I generally go by what I feel like I want to read. I don't understand how people can actually set a monthly TBR and stick to it.

11. I like to read either in my computer chair or on the bed but I always have to have a blanket on me. I don't care that it's Summer and reaches upwards of 95+ degrees outside, I need a blanket.

12. Sometimes I like to listen to Rainy Mood while I read but most of the time I just have the TV on low in the background or even try and watch a few Booktube videos while reading.

13. I also like to read while playing video games! I generally read while my League of Legends games are loading and will also read while dead and waiting to respawn.

14. I tried to make a Booktube channel but I'm just too awkward, so now I just do the Bookstagram and book blogger thing.

15. I consider bookmarks to be a wide range of things. For example, grocery store receipts, candy wrappers, straw wrappers, scrap paper, the cover of the book I'm reading (if it's a hardback), yarn, scrap fabric. Everything is a bookmark if you just believe. Just don't dog ear the pages. Ever.

16. I still haven't read any books by Sarah J. Maas and I feel like that's like, sacrilegious to say in the book community. Don't burn me at the stake!

17. My favorite Harry Potter book is Goblet of Fire and if I could, I would skip Order of the Phoenix entirely. Sirius dying just kills me every time. Also don't like the OotP film that much but it's the one I've watched the most because it's on OnDemand. Thanks, Xfinity, I guess.

18. I came up with the name Under the Book Cover thinking I was super clever because, where is the story? Under the cover of the book! But then I found out someone else had the blog name Under the Covers Book Blog and then didn't feel so clever. But my name has stuck and I don't plan on changing it even though there's a blog with a similar name out there.

19. My favorite Stephen King book is Cell and I've never read the Dark Tower series. I already know the ending and I don't know if I'm prepared to read all the way through and get that ending.

20. I just recently found out that To All the Boys I've Loved Before is being made into a movie and I cried because it's one of my favorite reads of 2017. Lara Jean is a little cinnamon roll and she inspires me to improve my baking skills. Also, Kitty is fantastic.

21. I feel like if I just sit down and finally read Fangirl that I'll understand the hype. I've always wanted to find a character that I related to and Cath feels like that character even though I've never read the book. Or any Rainbow Rowell book, for that matter.

22. I use corgi's in my book reviews in place of stars because corgi's are much cuter than stars. I also put a waving corgi at the bottom of a lot of my posts. He doesn't have a name yet, but he will one day!

23. I've always told myself that if I ever have a child in the future and it's a girl, I'm going to name her either Molly or Lily. Why? Molly Weasley and Lily Potter. Hashtag HP obsessed, right?

24. It really frustrates me that my Kindle won't tell me what page I'm on but instead tells me what % into the book I'm at currently. Is it too much to just tell me the page number?!

25. If I were to ever get a bookish tattoo (I won't/can't because I have a phobia of needles) it would be the Deathly Hallows. Not very original, but Harry Potter means a lot to me and it would be nice to carry that around with me forever. I also wouldn't be able to handle a tattoo because I can't handle putting stickers on things because I think about how it's now there permanently and I can't remove it ever and it makes me anxious and incredibly nauseous just thinking about it. That's not really a bookish fact, but that's me!

Hi hello and welcome to the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag! It's the middle of the year and I've been seeing this tag everywhere recently, so I figured I would hop on the bandwagon. Let's get started!

Best book you’ve read so far in 2017

Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This was a tough one, but Heartless stood out the most to me when thinking of an answer to this question. I went through a roller coaster of emotions while reading this and I loved it so very much, so this definitely is one of my top 2017 reads.

Best sequel you've read so far in 2017

New release you haven't read yet, but want to

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. I haven't even read the first two but I'm dying to read this. I think it's a case of instant cover love because, seriously, this cover is beautiful.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Biggest disappointment

Shattered Blue by Lauren Bird Horowitz. Honestly, I don't even want to talk about it. This book was just not for me and I would not recommend it.

Biggest surprise

The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. Dark, twisted, and right up my alley.

Favourite new author (Debut or new to you)

Roshani Chokshi. Her writing is beautiful and sparked my new love for Indian culture! Ever since I read A Crown of Wishes, I've been trying to read more books that talk about Indian culture because it was so fascinating and I wanted to learn more about it.

Newest fictional crush

Xan from the Sphinx series by Raye Wagner. Honestly, I don't get fictional crushes, and I'm not necessarily crushing on Xan. But his character was so fantastic and I just loved his relationship with Hope and how much he cares for her and takes care of her without hesitation. The two of them had the best friendship I've ever read about and I'm so happy I had the chance to read about them.

Newest favourite character

Dimple from When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. She's such a sassy, independent, smart, strong character and I really think we need more characters like this in YA books.

Book that made you cry

Book that made you happy

Violet Grenade by Victoria Scott. This book was so deliciously twisted and I loved every second of it.
